Speaker Test

Confirm both channels work, check your stereo balance, and spot a blown speaker in seconds.

Put on stereo output (not a single mono speaker) for the clearest result.

What each test tells you

Left / Right: plays a clean 520 Hz tone panned fully to one side. Use it to confirm each speaker fires and to identify which channel is which.

Both: plays centered — useful for checking volume match and hunting rattles or buzzing.

Balance sweep: pans smoothly left to right and back. The sound should travel evenly across the stereo field with no dead spots.

Frequently asked questions

How do I test if my speakers work? +

Use the Left and Right buttons above. You should hear a clear tone from the matching side. Then play Both to check they're balanced, and use the balance sweep to confirm the sound moves smoothly from one side to the other.

How can I tell if a speaker is blown? +

A blown or damaged speaker usually buzzes, crackles, or sounds fuzzy instead of producing a clean tone — or produces nothing at all. If one channel is distorted while the other is clean, that speaker likely has a problem.

Why do both sides sound the same on my phone? +

Many phones have a single main speaker (mono), or route both channels to one speaker when not using headphones. Plug in headphones or connect a stereo speaker to properly test left and right separation.
